BAKED MACCARONI WITH GROOT CHICKEN

INGREDIENTS
 
  • 500gr maccaroni
  • 100gr finely chopped onions
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 200gr peeled & chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar or half a peeled & chopped apple
  • 400gr finely chopped GROOT chicken
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons grated cheese (Parmesan or Kefalotiri)
  • fresh ground pepper
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons semolina

    (Oven dish 30cm x 18cm)

    Oven Temperature:
    200C / 400F
    Gas Mark 6

  • METHOD

    Put the oil in the saucepan and cook the onion until soft. Add some water if it dries.

    Add the tomatoes, tomato paste and sugar or the apple and simmer the sauce for 20 minutes.

    Add the GROOT chicken, stir and remove from heat.

    In a large pan put 2 litres of boiling water, add the macaroni and boil for 8 - 10 minutes till cooked but firm.

    Drain and refresh with cold water.

    Place in a large mixing bowl together with the sauce, beaten egg and the grated cheese.

    Mix everything well.

    Lightly brush the oven dish with olive oil.

    Sprinkle some semolina on the olive oil so that the base becomes crunchy and place the macaroni in the dish. Level the top and cook for 40 minutes in a pre heated oven.

    When the top becomes golden brown remove the dish from the oven and place on a cooling rack before serving.

  • METODU

    F'kazzola ftit fonda, itfa' z-zejt u fih zid il-basla u sajjarha sakemm tirtab, jekk ikun hemm bzonn zid 2 mgharef ilma.

    Zid it-tadam imqatta', il-kunserva u z-zokkor jew it-tuffieha u tektek din it-tahlita ghal 20 minuta, waqt li kultant thawwad.

    Zid il-GROOT chicken, hawwad u nehhi minn fuq in-nar.

    Go borma kbira ferra' 2 litri mishun jaghli, zid l-imqarrun pasta ZARA u sajjar ghal 8 - 10 minuti, imma li jibqa' wieqaf.

    Saffi u ffriskah bl-ilma kiesah.

    Poggih go skudella kbira u mieghu sid iz-zalza, il-bajd imhabbat u l-gobon mahkuk.

    Hawwad kollox sew.

    Hu d-dixx tal-forn u ppinzellah hafif bi ftit zejt.

    Roxx ftit smid fuq iz-zejt biex jigi jqarmec u itfa' l-imqarrun pasta ZARA fid-dixx, illixxa l-wicc u sajjar ghal 40 minuta fil-forn li tkun sahhant minn qabel.
